Lure Selection: minnows crawdads are the major prey
CRANK BAIT, JERK BAIT, TOPWATER, SPINNERBAIT
Clear Water use light colored lures and match to sky conditions
If sky is clear use light If sky is overcast use darker
Stained Water (over 1 ½ feet visibility use darker colors with orange, chartruse or other bright colors. Use baits with orange belly or a fire tiger color
Muddy Water stay home actually find areas of different water types merging and fish the breakline
Fish dark colored lures that make a lot of noise
Same for fishing at night. I always start with black, but often change to purple if there is a little light. Sometimes the fish want the purple instead of the black
JIGS, FLIPPIN’ TUBES, SOFT PLASTICE ( we catch a lot of fish on Crawly Fries)
Pumpkin Seed, Avocado and other shades of green, Black, White, sometimes chartruce works great, too (match the crawdad color in your particular body of water. Turn over some rocks until you find one).
Plastic worms Black and purple are almost never a bad choice but experiment until you find the one that the fish want. I have caught a lot of fish on red.
